Free VB .NET 2003
I haven't seen this blogged much. If you are in the US or Canada, you can get a free Not-For-Resale copy of Visual Basic .NET 2003 Standard Edition shipped to you from Microsoft. It seems you need to watch and rate five movies and sign-up. A quick search reveals that it currently sells for $90 (plus shipping)...
'If you experience problems watching these videos, you may wish to try installing the WMP9 codecs (or WMP9 itself, although that is not a requirement). '.
Very nice move on Microsoft's part. Offer is good till September 30th (or while supplies last, but I bet for 5 months period, the supplies are pretty huge).
So, get your 'strictly Not-For-Resale' product, install .NET and Windows Media Player 9 along the way. IE will broadcast that you have .NET installed to every web site you visit.
IE is free, WMP is free, .NET is free and now VB .NET 2003 is free (if you're eligible). I wonder how Microsoft makes any money at all :)
Oh, here's the link BTW.

kinda sucks if your outside the US.... but then again it becoming vividly apparent that few people in the US even belive there is a world worth any value outside of North America

Way to generalize, Pete. Many of us here in the USA--perhaps even most of us--are well aware of the rest of the world. The rest of the world is where rude people like you generalize and insult us. The rest of the world is where militant religious zealots generalize and murder us just for being from a part of the world that happens to be ruled by people of whom they disapprove (and of whom many of us disapprove as well). It seems to be the in thing to rail against the people of my country as a whole, but how about taking it easy on the stereotypes?
Did it occur to you that there could be legal issues, shipping issues, or other issues making international distribution problematic? Think first. Type second.
